Remembrance Sunday Glasgow 2014

On 9 November 2014 the annual commemoration of Remembrance Sunday was held at the cenotaph in George Square, Glasgow. A parade of serving military personnel and veterans took place. The Guard of Honour was provided by 52nd Lowland (6th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland) and the music by Lowland Band (Royal Regiment of Scotland).

Garden of Remembrance Edinburgh 2014

On 3 November 2014 the opening ceremony of the Garden of Remembrance, adjacent to the Scott Monument in Princes Street, Edinburgh took place. A service of dedication to remember the war dead was held, wreaths were laid and the musical accompaniment was provided by the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Royal Marines Freedom of Glasgow 2014

On 1 November 2014 the Royal Marines were granted the Freedom of the City of Glasgow. The Royal Marines, veterans and cadets marched through the streets of Glasgow city centre and took part in a special ceremony in George Square where Lord Provost Sadie Docherty presented the honour to the Commandant General.

Armed Forces Day 2014 Grangemouth

On 16 August 2014 Falkirk District Armed Forces Day took place in Grangemouth. Veterans and cadets paraded to the War Memorial in Zetland Park where a drumhead service was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

1st World War Commonwealth Commemoration Glasgow 2014

On 4 August 2014 a First World War Commonwealth Commemorative Event was held in Glasgow. A service was held at Glasgow Cathedral followed by a memorial service in George Square and then a march past the Cenotaph of serving military and veterans. The salute was taken at the Cenotaph by HRH The Duke of Rothesay.
