Seafarers Service at Glasgow Cathedral 2016

On 23 October 2016 the annual Seafarers Service was held in Glasgow Cathedral. The service honours the contribution made to the nation by all seafarers. Prior to the service the Band of the Royal Marines played in the Cathedral precinct and contingents of Sea Cadets and Veterans were inspected by the Naval Regional Commander for Scotland & Northern Ireland Chris Smith.

Polish Scouts Remember Grey Ranks Of 1944 Warsaw Uprising

On 9 October 2016 Polish scouts in Edinburgh took part in an event to remember the role of the Grey Ranks (Polish scouts) in providing a postal service during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. The scouts then entertained with a concert of Polish patriotic songs at the Holy Cross Church, Bangholm Loan, Edinburgh.

Warsaw Uprising Commemorated by Polish Scouts in Edinburgh

On 1 August 2016 Poles gathered at the memorial to Wojtek the Bear in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, to commemorate the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. A moment of silence was held at W Hour - 4pm (5pm Polish time) - the time the Warsaw Uprising started.

Armed Forces Day 2016 Glasgow

On 25 June 2016 Glasgow celebrated Armed Forces Day. There was a parade of serving military personnel, veterans and cadets. The parade was led by the Lowland Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. The salute was taken at the Cenotaph in George Square.

Kennedy Cupcakes at Stirling Military Show 2016

On 18 June 2016 the glamorous dance troupe the Kennedy Cupcakes performed on stage at the Stirling Military Show. They danced to the music of the big band era.
