Paisley Abbey, Scotland, was founded in the 12th century as a Monastery of the Cluniac Order. Monks came from Shropshire, England, to establish the Monastery. The Abbey was dedicated to Saints Mary the Virgin, James the Greater of Compostella, Mirin and Milburga. Paisley Abbey today is a parish church of the Church of Scotland.
