The hand of a soldier is seen pointing to the Great Doors of Eternity. On the door is inscribed the words - Through this space a shaft of sunlight falls at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month. If the sun is shining on the 11 November then its rays will strike the central wreath of the memorial.
