A Royal Marine holds the Freedom honour presented to the Royal Marines by Lord Provost Sadie Docherty. The honour states that it is - In recognition of the dedication and sacrifice it makes to protect the interests of the United Kingdom, in acknowledgement of the high regard in which the unit is held, and in recognition of the strong relationship that continues between Her Majesty's Royal Marines and Glasgow.
